Why should you participate in the All of Us Research program?
The Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities and the American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) are promoting the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) All of Us Research Program.
Health care has traditionally followed a “one-size-fits-all” method by prescribing treatment(s) based on the “average” patient. Historically, people with disabilities have been excluded from or ignored in research studies. All people, including people with disabilities, are being asked to enroll in the All of Us study which will impact the future of health care and help physicians tailor individual treatment plans.
The All of Us research program plans to recruit one million or more people from across the country to share their health and lifestyle data. Researchers hope to learn the best way to treat people by looking for biological, environmental and behavioral patterns. People who join the program will have a lasting impact by helping improve the health of future generations by advancing precision medicine.
