Pictello – Visual Stories

Pictello is an app from AssistiveWare (the distributors of Proloquo2Go) that allows you to create talking photo albums and talking books on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.   Each page can contain oen picture (import your own photos), and up to 5 lines of text.  Text can be recorded by a person, or you can access text-to-speech capabilities.  Vo8ices include North American English male and female voices, and children’s voices are also available for free download.  As described by the developer, applications for Pictello include the following:

  • Stories to teach social skills or to recall events.
  • Photo albums to allow non-speaking people to share their news and interests.
  • Sharing important events and memories with family who live far away.
  • Talking books.
  • Teaching narrative skills as part of a literacy or language skills curriculum.
  • Schedules, Task instructions, etc.

A series of tutorials have been developed and are available for download on the AssistiveWare website.  No demo versions are available.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.
