Grasshopper Apps
Grasshopper Apps has created a library of educational apps designed to teach a variety of skills to young children. The developer describes them as easy to cutomize, allowing the adult to content of the app as well as the way in which the user physically interacts with it. A list of available apps can be found on the Grasshopper website, and reviews can be found on the iTunes Grasshopper apps page. Watch the video below to see one of the apps in the “I Like”book series.
The apps have been developed for use on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod. See the individual app pages for specific requirements.

On July 28, 2011, Magi Sheply posted the following comments to the QIAT listserv:
“I had a lot of success ……using the Grasshopper Apps. They are customizable and were great for my student. Most of them are free; I did pay for the spelling app so I could customize word lists to work on some functional skills with her like spelling her name.
Her favorites were Sorting ABCs, Opposites, Matching Fruits, Little Speller. I could pretty much guarantee work with those. I also had the free version of Color Slapps which she was willing to do. I also used See Touch Learn with her, which was not as much of a success, though she would use it at times with me.”
