Avaz – AAC App for Autism

Avaz is a full-featured AAC app.  Avaz has been developed for children who are non-verbal or who have difficulty speaking.  Avaz has been designed with the aim to help autistic children to communicate and develop an intent to learn.  Avaz has numerous personalization and customization options.  It also has features like multiple sensory reinforcement, picture prediction, tracing of therapy sessions, integrated keyboard and text mode, all of which makes it extremely easy for the child to use.  Avaz grows with the child.

MyLifeSkillsBox

MyLifeSkillsBox allows a child to learn about life.  If your child has difficulty learning in a natural environment, MyLifeSkillsBox is an app that can help.   This app teaches a child the necessary skills for three very important environments: Everyday life skills such as showering and getting dressed; Social skills such as coping techniques with different social situations; and Playing with functional objects by learning how to use objects for play.  The app separates each activity making them easier to learn and simplifies task analysis for the child.

Visual Routine

Visual Routine is a simple, easy to program visual schedule that helps your autistic or special needs child keep a routine.  Routines can be tailored to specific needs with audio feedback, and customizable pictures, audio, and text.  Instead of carrying around pecs or a laminated schedule, this app will let you have routines preset and then run them to show the child in an easy way what they have to do.  This app serves as a visualization tool for routines, providing portability, audio support, and easy to understand graphics.

EASe Listening Therapy

EASe Listening Therapy app was developed for children with autism and other sensory processing disorders (SPD), who often respond to noise with exaggerated reactions and behavioral or learning issues.

EASe uses music to deliver short, intense bursts of sound, creating a sensory palette of sonic experiences that can help a child learn to cope with typical environmental conditions.  There are three versions of EASe: EASe Lite, EASe Personal, and EASe Pro.

Web Reader HD – Text to Speech Page Reader

Web Reader HD for iPad uses text to speech technology along with web page content recognition to read web pages.  You can configure web pages to be read as soon as they are loaded, read pages manually after they are loaded, or use Cut, Copy, & Paste to read only sections of text.

Ablah

Ablah is an augmentative communication tool designed to help all people who have some type of language disorder.  This app supports voice output in Spanish and English.  Beyond a simple communication program, Ablah allows therapists and parents who live or work with people with language disorders such as autism, afasianentre Down syndrome or others to improve their quality of life and improve interaction with their environment.  It is as simple as choosing an image and assigning a sound.

Read2Go

Read2Go is an assistive technology book reader that uses text-to-speech technology to read books aloud.  To understand Read2Go, you must first understand what Bookshare is all about. Bookshare.org  provides electronic copies of books and periodicals for readers with print disabilities. The books are downloaded in an electronic form that can be easily  modified to meet the needs of readers with diverse disabilities. This can mean altering font, size, color, and even using text-to-speech technology to provide read-aloud capability. Bookshare is currently available free of charge for US  students with qualifying disabilities, thanks to a grant by the Department of  Education.

Read2Go’s integration with  Bookshare makes locating and downloading electronic textbooks easy, provided you have a qualifying Bookshare account.
