Advisory Board Information
Montana Transition Training, Information and Resource Center (MT-TIRC)

MT-TIRC activities are shaped and guided by a fifteen-member advisory board (with an additional seven non-voting auxiliary members) comprised of Montanans from such groups as:

  • Young people (ages 13-30) with developmental disabilities
  • Parents/family members of individuals with developmental disabilities
  • The Developmental Disabilities Program
  • Disability Rights Montana (formerly “Montana Advocacy Program”)
  • The Governor’s Transition Task Force
  • The Office of Public Instruction
  • Parents, Let’s Unite for Kids
  • The Child Development Center
  • The Montana Council on Developmental Disabilities
  • ADAPT or People First
  • MonTECH
  • The Montana Youth Leadership Forum
  • Vocational Rehabilitation
  • The Social Security Administration
  • Schools
  • Adult agencies (for example, community rehabilitation providers)

At least 51% of the voting members are young people with developmental disabilities.

The advisory board helps MT-TIRC staff:

  • Determine necessary and appropriate activities
  • Establish priorities
  • Develop work plans
  • Craft products
  • Deliver training
  • Conduct evaluation activities

Term lengths are for 12 months. Meetings are held quarterly.
