Bio
Cary Griffin is Senior Partner at Griffin-Hammis
Associates, a full service consultancy specializing in building communities
of economic cooperation, creating high performance organizations, and
focusing on disability and employment. Cary maintains a strong relationship
with the Rural Institute at the University of Montana, where he served
as Director of Training, and is now Director of Special Projects. He
is the former Executive Director of the Center for Technical Assistance & Training
(CTAT) in Denver. Cary provides training to administrative and direct
service level professionals in the rehabilitation field; consultation
to businesses and rehabilitation agencies regarding the employment
of individuals with significant disabilities; field-initiated research & demonstration;
family & consumer consultation; resource development; organizational
development. Recently, Cary has been instrumental in designing self-employment
protocols and training for individuals, agencies, and states.

Cary
speaks on an international basis, with an emphasis on leadership and
community employment. Recent keynotes include the National Conference
on Autism and the Australian National Employment Conference. His latest
publications include editing and contributing to a special edition
of the Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation on Self Employment (2001);
the book, Working Better, Working Smarter: Building Responsive Rehabilitation
Programs (1999); a chapter on self-employment for individuals with
significant disabilities in an upcoming book by Dr. Paul Wehman; a
chapter on Organizational Change in Bill Kiernan & Robert Schalock?s
book Integrated Employment: Current Status and Future Directions (1997);
a chapter on job development for students with severe disabilities
in Paul Wehman's: Life Beyond the Classroom (2000); an article on non-aversive
behavioral supports in the Journal of American Rehabilitation (1994);
and articles on Transformational Leadership in the Journal of Vocational
Rehabilitation (1994; 1996). Cary is on the editorial board of the
Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Journal of Mental Retardation
and he serves as a consultant to several national projects on Disability
and Workforce Development, and is also a trainer for the Benefits Planning
Assistance and Outreach projects through the Social Security Administration.
Cary is a member of the U.S. Small Business Administration?s Blue Ribbon
Panel on Entrepreneurship and Self Employment for People with Disabilities.
Cary?s next book , co-written with business partner Dave Hammis, is
Making Self Employment Work for People with Disabilities, to be published
by Brookes in 2002.
