One of the goals of the Rural Institute Transition and Employment Projects is to expand the vision of what is possible for youth and young adults with developmental disabilities to learn, live, work and play in their communities. Each month, we share one of these stories.
This month’s story: Allen Gotcher
Allen Gotcher was introduced to golf his freshman year through Special Olympics. No one knew at the time what a large role the game would play in his life. Allen’s confidence grew through golf and he became more outgoing in class and in his academics, and golf has lead him to full-time employment, his own apartment, and a driver’s license.
