Overview of Part C Services The Lead Agency is the Child Development Services Program within the Department of Education.  Services are provided directly by 16 regional Intermediate Educational Units (IEUs).   Services are always provided in the natural environment and very few children birth through age 2 are served in special purpose programs.   All services are based on IFSPs
Public Awareness and Child Find Activities
  • All IEUs are presently developing activities and agreements with Head Start and Early Head Start.

  • Pediatricians have intergrated into the state's physician continuing education program training in early intervention, identification, and referral to services.
Public Awareness and Child Find Activities believed to be most effective
  • The regional IEUs work in collaboration with Indian Health services
  • The regional IEUs work collaboratively with the state Migrant Education Program.
Concerns regarding finding more children
  • Needing an increase in funding to serve more children.
  • The increase in the severity of children being identified.
