EM-GTW (Eastern Montana Graduate to Work) and RESEED (Rural Entrepreneurship
and Self-Employment Expansion Design) Projects METNET Broadcasts:
Self-Employment Part 1

This is a two-part series with nationally-renowned self-employment
consultant Cary Griffin. During the sessions, Cary will describe how
to make self-employment work for people with disabilities. Topics include:
Using person-centered planning processes (such as
Discovery and the Employment Planning Meeting) to determine dreams,
talents, supports and connections;
Generating business ideas;
Connecting to other resources, including Vocational
Rehabilitation, Social Security Work Incentives, Workforce Investment
Act, and Small Business Development Centers;
Conducting Benefits Analyses to determine the impact
of wages on any benefits the individual may receive or be entitled
to receive;
Writing business plans and evaluating them for feasibility;
and
Marketing.
METNET is an interactive video system. This allows the
audience and the presenters to see and hear one another. We will broadcast

This training is an activity of the Eastern Montana Graduate to Work
Project (EM-GTW), which is sponsored by the Montana Council on Developmental
Disabilities and the University of Montana’s Rural Institute with
local partners:
Region I CSPD, Region III CSPD, Region V CSPD, MAP, and the Montana
Center on Disabilities and MSU-Billings. The training is co-sponsored
by the Rural Institute’s RESEED (Rural Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment
Expansion Design) Project.
The State of Montana and these participating METNET sites make reasonable
